The Community Foundation of Southern Maryland is pleased to announce the 2013 Philanthropy Hall of Fame Inductees: Wilson H. Parran, Nancy Gasparovic, and H. Thomas Waring. โ€œIt is with great pleasure that the Foundation has the privilege of recognizing three individuals from Southern Maryland who epitomize the best of community, leadership and philanthropy,โ€ said Ellen Flowers-Fields, Chairwoman of the Community Foundation of Southern Maryland. The inductions will take place at the 2013 Celebrate Philanthropy in Southern Maryland luncheon on Friday, November 1, 11:30 โ€“ 1:30 p.m. at the Greater Waldorf Jaycees Community Center. Paul Jolly, Consultant of Major Gifts and Business owner of Jump Start Growth, will be the keynote speaker. Paul Jolly has worked as a fundraising professional for over 20 years before starting the consulting firm Jump Start Growth. The focus of Paulโ€™s consulting work is bringing sophisticated major gifts fund raising practices to organizations.

โ€œAt this annual event, we recognize the regionโ€™s individuals and organizations who have demonstrated a tireless and unselfish commitment to improving the quality of life in Southern Maryland,โ€ said Gretchen Hardman, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Southern Maryland.

Wilson H. Parran, resides in Calvert County and is the Deputy Secretary of Administration and Operations for the Maryland Department of Transportation. Wilson has devoted much of his life to serving others; His many leadership awards are testament to his civic and community dedication and good character. The Leadership Southern Marylandโ€™s, Heritage Award, are among his many awards received for his commitment to community and โ€œtrack record of collaborative and inclusive leadershipโ€, stated Executive Director of LSM, Karen Holcomb. He is most proud of his six grandchildren.

Nancy Gasparovic moved to Charles County in the 70โ€™s and took the community by storm. It is almost impossible to name a charity or cause Nancy has not devoted time, talents and resources to advance their cause. Her involvement in the community started in the late 70โ€™s as a charter member of the Western Charles American Cancer Society and her gift to give is still going strong. Her focus is versatile, where there was a need, Nancy was there to help. Today she serves as Vice-President of the Alice Ferguson Foundation.

H. Thomas Waring, moved to St. Maryโ€™s County at the age of ten and stayed. He served in the Navy during World War II as a Musician and is the father of seven children. As a successful business owner and Real Estate Developer, Mr. Waring devoted his life to making a positive change to St. Maryโ€™s County. From developing communities and building hotels to supporting local causes and providing scholarships towards education locally and globally, Mr. Waring touched countless lives through his generosity.
