2024 Will Smith Youth Basketball Awards Held At Great Mills High School

GREAT MILLS, Md. – Congratulations to the recognized 8th graders participating in Recreation & Parks Youth Basketball Leagues for their positive influence exemplifying sportsmanship on and off the court. A total of 32 recipients were recognized during Select Basketball games at Great Mills High School on Sunday, February 4, 2024.

The award is named after William Smith, Jr. who tragically lost his life on September 21, 2008. Will was a participant in the Recreation and Parks Youth Basketball League for six years. He attended Ridge Elementary School, Spring Ridge Middle School and Great Mills High School. He was a special athlete who loved the game of basketball and everyone involved. Will helped evolve basketball to more than wins and losses but to include respect for one another, teamwork and sportsmanship.
