Annapolis, MD — More than 32,000 volunteers attended Governor’s Volunteer Appreciation Day at the 138th Maryland State Fair.

This day was dedicated to celebrating positive changes Maryland volunteers have made to our communities with dedication and collective action. Volunteers and their family members and friends were treated with the best of events and entertainment at the fair with discounted passes provided by the Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism.

“We seek to promote a culture and spirit of serving others in need across the state as we engage tens of thousands of Marylander volunteers to thank them for their service, in collaboration with the Maryland State Fair,” said Steve McAdams, Executive Director of the Governor’s Office of Community Initiatives and Interim Director of the Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism. “The fair is not just a great time, but an opportunity to unite our citizens in changing Maryland for the better.”
