WALDORF, Md. — Feline Felons Cat Cafe has entered its final six days at its Waldorf location, but the community still has time to visit, adopt a cat and help the business search for a new home.
Feline Felons Cat Cafe will welcome visitors for the final time Monday, Sept. 7, after issues involving its lease prompted the business to begin searching for another location.
The cafe hopes the closure will be temporary and is looking for a freestanding building of approximately 3,000 square feet in a visible location, with reasonable rent and a landlord willing to accommodate the cat cafe.
“Our biggest hurdle right now is finding a new home,” Feline Felons said in its closure announcement.
The cafe is calling the temporary closure its “Purrole Countdown,” encouraging residents to meet the remaining cats before the doors close.
The response has already helped dozens of animals find families. Feline Felons reported that more than 80 cats were adopted during August through the Maryland 3,000 adoption promotion.
The cafe announced that its kitten lounge is temporarily closed after all the kittens housed there were adopted. The room will reopen at noon Thursday, Sept. 3, while adult cats remain available to visit and adopt.
Feline Felons opened in 2023 as a family-friendly lounge where visitors could relax, play with cats and get to know animals searching for permanent homes.
The cafe partners with the Charles County Animal Care Center, the county-operated shelter at 6707 Animal Shelter Road in Hughesville.
Adoption Fees Waived For Final Weekend
The Charles County Animal Care Center will waive adoption fees for cats at Feline Felons from Saturday, Sept. 5, through the cafe’s final day Monday, Sept. 7.
The “Feline Felons Purrole Push” is intended to help as many remaining cats as possible move into permanent homes before the closure.
Prospective adopters are encouraged to make an appointment online. Walk-in appointments are not guaranteed.
Residents can also browse the cafe’s current “Kitt-Inmates” available for adoption. Because adoptions are taking place throughout the week, the list may change as animals find homes and others arrive from the shelter.
The last day the cafe will accept new cats and kittens from the Animal Care Center is Friday, Sept. 4.
Any cats and kittens that have not been adopted by the closure will return to the Charles County Animal Care Center, where they will remain available for adoption.
Feline Felons said the return of multiple animals at once could place additional pressure on the shelter, making adoptions during the final week especially important.

Final Days To Visit
Visitors who are not ready to adopt can still support the cafe by booking time in the cat lounges, shopping in its boutique or sharing information about the available animals.
From Friday, Sept. 4, through Monday, Sept. 7, the cafe will offer a special all-access appointment that allows visitors to enter both the cat and kitten lounges for 50% off.
Feline Felons is at 24 Industrial Park Drive, Suite 1, in Waldorf.
Regular hours are:
- Noon to 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday
- 2 to 8 p.m. Friday
- Noon to 6 p.m. Saturday
Customers with unused gift cards, certificates, subscriptions or punch-card visits are encouraged to use them before Sept. 7. Those benefits cannot be redeemed after the cafe closes.

Closing Yard Sale Planned
After its final day with visitors, Feline Felons will hold a closing yard sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, and Sunday, Sept. 13.
The sale will include cat trees, toys, bedding, shop displays and Feline Felons memorabilia. The event will give supporters an opportunity to take home part of the cafe while helping staff reduce the amount of equipment that must be stored or moved.
Although the Industrial Park Drive location is preparing to close, the cafe remains hopeful it will find another space and continue connecting shelter cats with Southern Maryland families.
