Maryland State police aviation command Trooper

MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — A 65-year-old man was critically injured Wednesday afternoon after falling from a tree in Mechanicsville, prompting a medical helicopter response.

The incident was reported around 4:45 p.m. on April 8, 2026, in the 40300 block of Delabrooke Road.

Emergency crews were dispatched for a reported fall from a tree. Initial information indicated the man was unconscious and experiencing abnormal breathing.

Authorities said the man fell approximately 12 feet while cutting tree limbs.

Due to the severity of the injuries, a medical helicopter was requested, and a landing zone was established in the yard of the residence. Fire and EMS personnel worked to stabilize the patient at the scene.

Maryland State Police Trooper 7 helicopter arrived and airlifted the patient to UM Capital Region Medical Center for further treatment.

Further details on the extent of injuries have not been released.
