WALDORF, Md. — A two-vehicle collision in Waldorf, Maryland, on Tuesday afternoon resulted in three injuries, including two severe enough to require two helicopters for evacuation. 

The crash occurred on October 22, 2024 at approximately 3:33 p.m. at the intersection of St. Charles Parkway and St. Marks Drive. According to initial reports, a Ford pickup truck collided with a Nissan Sentra sedan after the driver of the Sentra failed to yield the right-of-way.  Firefighters had to extricate two trapped occupants from the Sentra.

Firefighters established a landing zone nearby for US Park Police, Eagle 1 and Maryland State Police, Trooper 2. A 50-year-old male driver suffering from head pain was airlifted to MedStar Trauma Center by Trooper 2, while a 7-year-old female passenger with facial injuries was flown to Children’s National Hospital by Eagle 1.  

The driver of the Ford pickup was taken to UM Charles Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. All patients injuries were reported to be non-life-threatening.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
