
MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — Emergency crews responded to a serious two-vehicle collision in Mechanicsville, Maryland, on Wednesday evening, resulting in one person being airlifted to a trauma center.
The incident occurred around 5:05 p.m. in the 38000 block of New Market Turner Road. First responders arrived to find a head-on collision, with one vehicle off the roadway and crashed into a tree. One driver was trapped and injured in the wreckage.

Firefighters worked swiftly to stabilize the vehicle and successfully extricated the trapped driver within 30 minutes of the initial call. Due to the severity of injuries, emergency medical services requested a medevac transport.
Maryland State Police Trooper 7 helicopter was dispatched to a nearby landing zone established by firefighters. The injured patient was airlifted to Baltimore Shock Trauma Center for treatment.
Expect extended road closures in the area as the investigation continues. Police are still working to determine the cause of the crash.
This marks the second serious collision in Mechanicsville on Wednesday. Earlier in the day, at approximately 5:45 a.m., a three-vehicle crash occurred near North Sandgates Road.
