LEONARDTOWN, Md. — SIP Cafe, the craft cocktail lounge and southern-style brunch spot that brought a unique dining experience to Leonardtown Square, announced its closure after approximately one year of operation. The establishment, known locally as “Sippers,” thanked customers for their support while expressing regret about shutting down.

SIP Cafe operated as both a cafe and cocktail lounge, offering craft cocktails, shareable appetizers, and southern-style weekend brunch in downtown Leonardtown. The business maintained a presence on Leonardtown Square and developed a sizeable following during its time in operation.

The restaurant announced its closure through social media, stating “It has been a pleasure to serve you over the past year! Our time open has been filled with great times, great vibes and unforgettable memories and experiences!” Management emphasized the closure was not permanent, adding “This isn’t a goodbye, it’s a ‘see ya later!'”

SIP Cafe operated with limited hours, serving Wednesday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with brunch service from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. featuring all-day brunch. The establishment was closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

The closure removes another dining option from Leonardtown’s growing restaurant scene, which includes establishments like Sweetbay Restaurant & Bar, Social Coffee House and Cocktail Bar, and Olde Town Pub. SIP Cafe’s focus on craft cocktails and southern-style brunch offered a distinctive option in the market.

Management encouraged customers to share photos and memories from their visits, requesting patrons post “your favorite times, pics and videos” as a way to celebrate the establishment’s impact on the community. The restaurant’s social media presence highlighted its role in creating “great vibes” and community connections.

The specific reasons for closure were not detailed in the announcement, though management expressed optimism about potential future reopening with their “see ya later” message. No timeline was provided for any potential return to operations.

  1. I never knew SIP existed until I saw the ‘closing’ announcement . . . Sad because we have tried all of the L’town places.
