CHESAPEAKE BEACH, Md. — A Huntingtown man is being held without bond after Calvert County authorities charged him in connection with a stabbing that occurred inside a Chesapeake Beach home earlier this month.
David Alan Ferguson Jr., 37, of Huntingtown, is charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and carrying a dangerous weapon with intent to injure, according to court documents.
The charges stem from an incident reported Feb. 13, 2026, at a residence on Breezy Point Road in Chesapeake Beach.
According to charging documents, Calvert County deputies were notified after a man arrived at CalvertHealth Medical Center in Prince Frederick suffering from stab wounds to his shoulder and hand. Investigators determined the stabbing occurred at the Breezy Point Road residence and responded to both the hospital and the scene.
The victim told investigators that Ferguson, who is related to him by marriage, had recently been staying in the home’s downstairs guest room. An argument reportedly began over Ferguson’s behavior the previous night and escalated inside the residence. During the confrontation, the victim stated he saw Ferguson holding a knife and felt himself being stabbed. He described injuries consistent with slashing wounds and a puncture wound.
The victim’s wife reported hearing a heated argument followed by what sounded like a physical altercation. She stated she went downstairs and observed Ferguson holding a knife. She described the blade as approximately six to seven inches long with a camouflage handle. She also reported seeing blood on both men and said she feared for her husband’s life during the struggle.
Deputies documented significant blood evidence throughout the residence, including blood spatter on floors, furniture and near the basement stairs. Investigators also recovered blood-stained clothing and photographed the scene. No weapon was located during the initial search.
According to court records, after the altercation ended, Ferguson left the residence carrying a backpack. Authorities later responded to a residence on Smoky Road in Huntingtown while attempting to locate him.
An arrest warrant was issued Feb. 15 and served Feb. 17. Ferguson was initially held without bond and remained detained following a bail review hearing Feb. 18 before Judge Andrea R. S. Watkins in Calvert District Court.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 17, 2026, at 1 p.m. in Calvert District Court, Courtroom 2.
