A longtime Maryland Lottery player from Calvert County played a family member’s birthdate and won $25,000 on Pick 5.

BALTIMORE – A mom of four from Calvert County danced in the kitchen with her eldest daughter when she realized she had won $25,000 on the May 18 midday Pick 5 drawing.

“I’m going to buy two tanks of gas and groceries for a month,” she joked three days later when she claimed the prize May 21 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

The winner, going by the nickname “Ragdolls” because she and her co-workers look and feel like ragdolls at the end of a workday, played a family member’s birthdate on the ticket that won the big prize. She went on to say she is thrilled about the win.

“I’m glad to have it!” she said, adding that she and her kids would be getting a solid summer vacation out of the deal.

A regular Lottery player, she bought her winning ticket at the Giant grocery store at 655 Solomon’s Island Road North in Prince Frederick.
