SOLOMONS, Md. — Solomons has announced its highly anticipated fireworks schedule for the upcoming July 4 holiday.
This year’s fireworks show coincides with America250 celebrations, and organizers have worked to make the display bigger than ever to match the event, including securing local sponsorships, community support and a $15,000 Maryland 250 Once in a Generation Grant.
Organizers recently announced in a Facebook post that this year’s show will include a second fireworks barge and will launch twice as many fireworks for an “unforgettable show” over the Patuxent River.
The entire event will take place from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Pre-fireworks festivities will include live entertainment, vendors, inflatables and bounce houses, face painting, sand art, a slime kit vendor, specialty snacks and treats, all culminating in a fireworks display.
Paid parking is available at Glasscock Field next to the Calvert Marine Museum, and limited free parking is available at the Solomons Inn Resort & Marina, located at 155 Holiday Drive.
In addition to the fireworks show and festival, Solomons will host a packed day of events starting as early as 7 a.m. with the Patriotic Pet Parade. Here’s the schedule for the day:
- 7 a.m.: Patriotic Pet Parade starting at Juice Buzz at Bunky’s Charter Fishing
- 10 a.m.: Flag Raising Ceremony at the Waterman’s Memorial on Solomons Island
- Noon: Fourth of July Boat Parade starting at Mill Creek
- 5-9 p.m.: Live music by DJ Chop
- 9:15 p.m.: National Anthem sung by Katie Campbell, and fireworks begin.
