SOLOMONS, Md. — For years, a handful of residents in Solomons, Maryland, have made it their personal mission to give their town a phenomenal fireworks show every Fourth of July.
According to a volunteer’s email to The BayNet, the county covers just under 40% of the cost of the fireworks display. The rest is raised by a small group of volunteers who reach out to community members and local businesses, hoping to give Solomons locals an unforgettable, professional-level fireworks show.
This year’s display is extra special. The group is planning to go even bigger to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence that will take place on July 4, time TBD. In addition to working with local businesses and sponsors, the group is asking the community through a GoFundMe to help put on this once-in-a-lifetime (or once in two and a half centuries) display.
- The fundraising goal is $101,000 to fully fund the 2026 fireworks show. The contributions will fund:
- A professional-grade fireworks display over the river
- Safety and security personnel
- Permits and insurance
- Sound and lighting equipment
- Accessibility and amenities for all to enjoy
Numerous local businesses such as The Gott Company, WhataBob Lusby, G.H. Clark Contractors, No Thyme to Cook, and more have already contributed to this year’s fireworks show, according to the Light Up Solomons Facebook.
“This is more than just a fireworks show,” volunteers wrote on the GoFundMe page. “It’s a moment of unity, pride, and shared heritage! Whether you’re a longtime resident or someone who cherishes their time spent in Solomons, MD, your support will help light up the sky and hearts of everyone who gathers on this special day.”
