Agnes Delores “Aunt Lorsey” Kelley, 96, of Hollywood, MD was called to eternal rest after a joyous and fruitful life on August 8th, 2026. She was born on May 27th, 1930 in Baltimore, MD to the late Frank Smart of Clearwater, SC and Mary Laurine Chase of Lexington Park, MD.
Delores attended Baltimore city schools and received her diploma in Cosmetology from Carver Vocational Hich School in 1951. This was the beginning of Delores’s well-known passion and life-long profession that was able to impact many people.
Delores began her new journey in St. Mary’s County; MD. Hollywood is what she knew as the next chapter. This is where Delores and the love of her life, James Alfred Kelley, become husband and wife in 1952. From this union they created a beautiful family, two children, Veronica Alfreda Bullock (deceased 2021), and Bruce Maurice Kelley (Waldorf, MD).
Throughout her life, she had a passion for beauty and took great pride in her work as a beautician. Making others look and feel beautiful came naturally to her. She watched her clients go through the many seasons of life. She heard about new relationships, marriages, babies, and everything in between.
Speaking of beauty, Delores certainly practiced what she preached—she believed in looking her best. She was always well dressed, loved to shop, and knew how to put herself together for any occasion. Whether she was going somewhere special or simply going about her day, she carried herself with confidence and style.
One thing we can all admit, Delores knew how to have a good time. She enjoyed life, enjoyed people, and appreciated the moments that brought family and friends together. Her lively spirit and personality made her someone you enjoyed being around. One of the ways she showed her love was through cooking. Her kitchen was a place where family could gather, eat, laugh, talk, and make memories. We all remember the infamous potato salad, stuffed ham and rolls.
And anyone who truly knew Delores knew about her daily traditions of playing her numbers. It was simply part of who she was, and it is one of those little things that will always bring a smile when her family remembers her.
Delores was very much a giver. She would always make sure you were fed, you had something to drink, clothes on your back, and a place to stay. All of the selfless acts were done without recognition; her reward was a smile knowing she helped someone. She was also an active member of the Knights of St. Jerome from 2006-2026.
Nana, as Terrance would call her, shared an especially close bond. When he was young, wherever Nana went, he went too. Whether she was shopping, visiting family, running errands, or simply enjoying her day, he was often right there beside her. Those years created a special relationship and memories that will forever remain close to his heart.
Delores had many different names, Agnes when it was right, Aunt Lorsey to the family, Nana to grandkids, momma, sister, cousin, friend, beautician, fixer (may not last but it will get the job done), in all she wore every name with pride and always rose to the occasion. She gave us 96 years, probably more than we deserved, but yet it still feels like it wasn’t enough. She will forever be watching over us.
Delores is survived by her son Bruce M. Kelley, daughter in-law Francis “Tina” Kelley, four grandsons; Booker T. Bullock (Wife Euniqua), Justin D. Oliver (Wife Tiara), Julian D. Oliver(Wife Sylvia), and Maurice D. Kelley (Wife Jada), Five great-granddaughters; Keziah Bullock, Kalahni Bullock, Jordyn Oliver, Nyla Kelley, Taylor Oliver, one great-grandson; Jahon Gillespie, one sister-in-law, nine nieces, five nephews, one aunt, great nieces, great nephews, many cousins, clients, and a host of friends.
Delores was proceeded in death by her father Frank Smart, mother Mary Laurine Chase, husband James Alfred Kelly, daughter Veronica Alfreda “Freda” Bullock, son-in-law Booker T. “Tee” Bullock, and sister Ann Lorraine Scriber.
The family will receive friends for Delores’s Visitation on Friday, August 28th, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate St. John Francis Regis Parish, 43950 St Johns Rd, Hollywood, MD 20636. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. also at St. John Francis Regis Parish and officiated by Father Gerald Andrews. Interment will follow immediately in the church cemetery. Repast to follow immediately after interment and will be held at Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department (2nd), 22733 Lawrence Ave, Leonardtown, MD 20650.
