BRYANS ROAD, Md. – Today marks the 47th anniversary of the day Vickie Lynn Belk was found deceased along Metropolitan Church Road in Bryans Road on August 29, 1979.

For decades, despite best efforts, her death remained an unsolved case. But forensics investigators and cold case detectives never stopped seeking answers. In 2023, through advanced forensic technology and the persistent pursuit of investigators, there was a break in the case! A suspect, Andre Taylor, was identified through advanced DNA science and was subsequently arrested, charged, and ultimately found guilty. He died while serving his sentence.

Vickie was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, educator, and public service employee whose life was rooted in service and community. The Charles County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to the pursuit of justice for every victim, every family, and every case.
