On April 27, 2011, Alabama was changed forever from the violent paths of multiple tornadoes across the state, and many are left in desperate need of help! The federal government has declared Alabama a category one natural disaster. Several counties in Alabama are in need;ย Southern Maryland Supportsย thought this would be a great way to send hope to tornado victims in Alabama.ย They started this cause with the hope that a few friends could help gather items to send to Alabama; and in return the people of Southern Maryland have stepped in with great care, generosity, and a helping hand!ย ย They haveย four team members Adrienne Elmore, Angela Johnston,ย Nick Hoffman, and Justin Dubose that have stepped in andย they are all working hard for this cause! The relief effort is moving fast, and many people are contacting us from all over the state of Maryland to help with this cause!ย
ย
In conjunction with Cullins Trucking Inc., Southern Maryland Supports: “All in for Alabama” is coordinating a tornado disaster relief drive andย they need your help reaching out to residents and other businesses in Southern Maryland.ย They are collecting items and donations for the shelters in Alabama that are serving victims and communities that were hit hard.ย We are challenging everyone to give something! I want SOMD to join in our efforts to fill the truck full and send it to victims in need.ย They will be collecting goods until the May 23, with the Cullinsโ truck loading on the 24th!ย William Smith with the Department of Public Safety has come on board and allowing all St. Mary’s County Volunteer Fire Departments and Rescue Squads to be drop off locations. They have several businesses, churches, and schools participating in the relief drive, including: Cullins Trucking Inc., The Baynet.com, Burch Oil, MetroCast, Trinity Lutheran Church, Dyson Lumber, All Faith Episcopal Church, Patuxent Presbyterian Church,ย Imperial Pixal, Patuxent Self Storage, AMEWAS, Leonardtown High School, Town Creek Elementary, and Park Hall Elementary.ย They are receiving calls daily, andย are so proud of this community!
The Baynet.com will come pick up any donation that is in the Lexington Park area if you cannot come to any of the drop off locations.
BurchOil has just announced that they are giving Cullins Trucking 200 gallons of diesel for hauling the donations to Alabama. Also, MetroCast and Channel 10 have joined the team and are adding a donation box in their front lobby.
