On Feb. 23 at 7:50 a.m., Trooper Kenge of the Maryland State Police (MSP) observed a vehicle bearing Maryland registration that was failing to drive within a single lane on Route 301 in the area of Billingsley Road in Waldorf.ย  Kenge initiated a traffic stop and contacted the driver of the vehicle who was identified as James Donnell Young, 24 of Waldorf. Kenge initiated a driving under the influence (DUI) investigation after detecting an odor of an alcoholic beverage on Youngโ€™s breath. Young was unable to successfully complete a battery of field sobriety tests and he was subsequently placed under arrest for DUI.ย 

During a search incident to arrest, Young was found to be in possession of a small baggie containing suspected marijuana along with a glass marijuana smoking device. Young was released from the La Plata Barrack after receiving his traffic and criminal citations.
