Attention all Girl Scouts (Juniors and Fly-ups) and interested tweens: Join us for an evening of book and reading activities that will complete the requirements for the Books badge for Junior Girl Scouts.
The Books Badge Workshop will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2012, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Calvert Library Prince Frederick. To participate, register on-line at calvert.lib.md.us.
Workshop participants will learn about book-related careers, book construction and care, and the many types of books available in this age of ever-changing technology. The workshop also includes a tour of the library and an overview of library services and programs. Participants are asked to bring a copy (or the title) of their favorite book for one of the activities.
Linda Buckley, a Girl Scout volunteer and a public services librarian at Calvert Library, will be the workshop presenter.
Girl Scouts can attend individually or as a troop, but all participants must register separately and should be between the ages of 8 and 12.
Badges will not be distributed at the workshop, but each participant will receive signed documentation of the completed activities to provide to her troop leader.
