The Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemenโs Association Parade is being held in Leonardtown this year to honor first responders from the Tri-County area and commemorate the induction of Shirley Copado as President of the Association.
A pageant of over 200 emergency vehicles will stage at St. Maryโs Ryken High School, proceed down Fenwick Street and turn right onto Washington Street before heading out of Town.
Afterwards the public is invited to the Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Departmentโs Carnival lot on Lawrence Avenue for games and food.
For the safety of parade participants and spectators, there will be limited access to Town Square as parts of Washington Street and Fenwick Street will be closed to thru traffic from 12:00 noon until approximately 3:00 p.m.ย Traffic into the downtown area will be detoured to designated parking areas and spectator parking will also be available at the College of Southern Maryland Leonardtown Campus parking lots.ย Please note that the time and location of the parade are different than what was previously published.ย Call 301-475-9791 for more information.
