Walden Sierra, a local not for profit organization aiming to help individuals and families in the tri-county area, held its annual luncheon March 8, 2012 at Outback restaurant in Wildewood. Meals were $20 dollars each. Local business leaders, media and many others showed up. ย Lunch included Steak, Chicken, Salmon or Veggie Pasta, with a side of rice, a salad and a drink as well as dessert.

Walden started out in 1973, evolving to the changing times. The programming now offers treatment for addiction, counseling, drug and alcohol prevention, and many other services including a 24 hour hotline which can be reached 24 hours a day at 301-863-6661.

ย The luncheon ended with a raffle, the winner donated the rest back to Walden immediately.

Walden has five locations in the Southern Maryland are, including Hope Place and Beacon of Hope Recovery Community Center, in Lexington Park, Anchor and North Star in Charlotte Hall and Compass in Waldorf.
