MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — A Mechanicsville man accused of assaulting a pregnant woman is now facing felony charges in Circuit Court following a grand jury indictment, court records show.
Jeffery Francis Pappaianni, 34, of Mechanicsville, was indicted on April 13, 2026, on charges including first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and a crime of violence against a pregnant person.
The charges stem from an incident reported to law enforcement on March 16, 2026, with investigators indicating the alleged assault occurred in February.
According to charging documents, Pappaianni is accused of assaulting a victim who was nine months pregnant at the time, including kicking the victim in the stomach and striking her multiple times before leaving the scene.
Court records indicate the victim sought medical treatment following the incident and experienced complications requiring additional care before being stabilized.
Following the indictment, an arrest warrant was issued on April 13, 2026, by Judge Kevin Hill and later served while Pappaianni was already in custody, according to docket entries.
Pappaianni remains held without bond following a bail review hearing on April 15, 2026, before Judge Joseph Michael Stanalonis in District Court.
The case has now been transferred to Circuit Court and will proceed through the next phase of the judicial process.
If convicted, Pappaianni could face up to 25 years in prison under Maryland law.
