St. Andrews Church Road is shut down due to powerlines and tree down on the road, Fairgrounds Road just had powerlines fall across it at 9:52 PM. ย Readers are saying that small twisters are landing around Fairgrounds Road area and St. Andrews Church road as well. ย Stay away from these areas.
Stay away from any roads that have a high density of trees around them.ย
St. Mary’s County is under a Hurricane Warning and Flash Flood Warning.ย Citizens are strongly encouraged for their own safety to stay off of the roads. ย There are fallen trees and flooded roads that have created dangerous conditions. ย State Highway Administration is monitoring the Thomas Johnson Bridge andย when it sustains winds of 40 mph the bridge will be closed to all high profileย vehicles such as tractor trailers and box style trucks. Itโs currently sustaining 38ย mph winds.

The following roads have reopened:
Route 5 at all intersections.
A shelter is open at Leonardtown High School. Residents should bring personal itemsย and medications to the shelter. Citizens may bring their pets to the shelter and they willย be transported and housed at the Fairgrounds
