Leonardtown, MD — One of the areaโs annual rites of spring — The Holy Face Church Southern Maryland Spring festival — was held this past weekend (May1-3) at the St. Maryโs County Fairgrounds. The 22nd annual event featured attractions and entertainment including shows, carnival rides, food vendors, games, local crafters face painting, hay ride, car show, silent auction, haunted house and many other enjoyable activities.
Entertainment included Jerry Brown (the Monkey Man), Bunny Bailey Dance Studio, Gracieโs Guys and Dolls, Sultan of Sound, and Paulโs Basement. Throughout the three days National Champion Chainsaw Carver Dennis Beach entertained.
This yearโs event was held under the direction of Nancy Szewczyk and carried out with a large number of dedicated volunteers. In the festival program Holy Face Church Pastor Father Jerry Gamrot said, โSeeing our local community coming together in the spirit of brotherhood and joy is a great reward to their hard work.โ
Organizations that benefit from the festival are Hospice of St. Maryโs, H.O.P.E. (Helpers Overcoming Problems Effectively). And Care-Net Pregnancy center of Southern Maryland.
