David Wayne Trent
California, MD— On Jan.15, police in St. Mary’s County arrested a suspect–identified as David Wayne Trent, 63, of California, who is a Tier II registered sex offender residing in the county. Trent received a notice to re-register as a sex offender as required by the statute. According to court documents, “He has failed to either schedule an appointment or register as required by the statute. A check of the Maryland online sex offender registry on Jan. 15 reveals he is still residing in St. Mary’s County.”
Trent was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with failing to register.
Trent has a court date set for March 22 at the St.Mary’s County District Court. Trent faces a maximum jail sentence of three years and or a maximum fine of $5,000.
The investigating officer who prepared these charging documents is Dfc. Rozier Steinbach of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.
