At 7:52 pm on Saturday, December 23, TFC Linger was patrolling the area of Rt. 5 & Rt. 235 in Mechanicsville when he initiated a routine traffic stop on a 1995 Saturn GL for an equipment violation.
Contact was made with the driver, Brian Michael Whittington, 21, of Mechanicsville.
Further investigation revealed some loose marijuana on the rear passenger floor of the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted of the vehicle and a plastic film canister containing suspected marijuana was located underneath the driver’s seat.
Whittington was arrested for possession of marijuana and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond review.
