Silver Spring, MD— On Jan.17, at approximately 9:50 p.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Rockville Barracks responded to a collision involving a pedestrian on Eastbound Interstate 495 west of Maryland Route 650, Silver Spring, Montgomery County, Maryland.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was traveling on eastbound Interstate 495 west of Maryland Route 650 when the wheel came off of his vehicle and struck another vehicle.ย  The victim and the other motorist pulled to the right shoulder and began to exchange information.ย  The victim called a tow truck to the scene to remove his disabled vehicle from the interstate.ย  While waiting at the scene, the victim attempted to retrieve the wheel, which came off of his vehicle, from the travel lanes of eastbound Interstate 495. At that time he was struck by a black Lincoln Navigator.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was transported to Prince Georgeโ€™s Hospital for treatment.

Lanes 3 and 4 of eastbound Interstate 495 in the area of Maryland Route 650 are closed in the area while troopers continue their investigation
