Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 2900 block of Sandwich Drive in Waldorf on Aug. 30 at 11:58 p.m., for the report of an assault in which a weapon was involved.
Investigation revealed the victim and suspect were inside a house when they began arguing. During the argument, the suspect produced a handgun, placed it against the victim’s head and threatened her. The victim was able to flee from the house when the suspect removed the gun to light a cigarette; she immediately notified police.
Officers recovered a fully loaded revolver and arrested the suspect, Ronald Lee Coffey, 37, of Waldorf. He was charged with first degree assault and remanded to the Charles County Detention Center. The victim was not injured.
