CHESAPEAKE BEACH, Md. — Long-standing Chesapeake Beach crab restaurant Abner’s Crabhouse is calling for its customers to share their best photos from the past 60 years.
Abner’s is celebrating its 60th anniversary this Labor Day weekend. As they prepare to hit this milestone, the restaurant has put out a call to ask regulars and guests to share their favorite memories and photos of Abner’s. Memories may be shared on social media, and photos will be used to fill a “memory board” at the event.
“For nearly 60 years, Abner’s has been more than just a crab house … it’s been the backdrop for family traditions, first dates, birthdays, celebrations, and countless memories,” representatives from the restaurant wrote on its Facebook page.
“Whether it’s a family crab feast, a special celebration, an old photo, or simply a favorite memory, every story helps tell the history of Abner’s over the last 60 years,” said another post.
Abner’s opened in 1966 and has been family-owned ever since. Located at the marina on Fishing Creek in Chesapeake Beach, the establishment has long been a popular stop for locals and tourists after spending a day on the water or at the beach.
Abner’s large menu features plenty of crab, as well as other seafood like shrimp, flounder, scallops, oysters, and much more. The full menu is available online.
The restaurant also hosts A&A Gaming, an instant bingo facility. A&A Gaming opened in 2007 and today has 85 electronic Vegas-style instant bingo machines for its guests.
Anyone interested in participating can send their photos or written memories to AbnersCelebrating60@gmail.com no later than Aug. 15 and keep an eye on Abner’s Facebook for more information about the 60th anniversary event.
