Port Tobacco, MD – On Tuesday, Aug. 9 emergency crews and police responded shortly after 4 p.m. to a motor vehicle crash on Port Tobacco Road and Mary Drive. According to a posted report from the La Plata Volunteer Fire Department, seven injuries were reported. One motorist was trapped in a vehicle. After being removed from the vehicle the unidentified motorist was flown to a regional trauma center.
The other injured motorists were transported to area hospitals.
The crash remains under investigation. The roadway was closed for approximately five hours following the crash.
Update 9:30 pm. Authorities are reporting the roadway is reopened.
Port Tobacco Md 4:37 pm.–Port Tobacco Rd is closed in both directions between Rose Hill Rd and Poorhouse Rd due to auto accident.ย Police, Fire and EMS are on the scene handling the incident.ย
