After-Hours Park Stop Leads To Gun Arrest In Severn

SEVERN, Md. — A Severn man was arrested Monday evening after Anne Arundel County police found a loaded handgun in an occupied vehicle parked after hours at a Severn park.

Around 6:15 p.m. on Dec. 1, Western District officers with the Anne Arundel County Police Department were patrolling Provinces Park in the 1700 block of Disney Road when they saw a vehicle in the park after closing.

During their investigation, officers reported finding a loaded Smith & Wesson handgun inside the vehicle. Police also learned the occupant had an open arrest warrant.

The driver, identified as Brandon Jamar Williams, 39, of Severn, was taken into custody.

Williams is charged with multiple handgun offenses, including having a loaded handgun on his person, having a handgun on his person, having a loaded handgun in a vehicle and having a handgun in a vehicle, as well as trespassing on posted property, court records show. All charges are listed as misdemeanors.

Officer B. Mayer of the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Western District is listed as the arresting officer.

Williams was released on his own recognizance following a bail review on Dec. 2. A trial is scheduled for Jan. 16, 2026, in Annapolis before Judge Sidney Allen Butcher.
