โข Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 17, the St. Maryโs County Department of Aging Retired and Senior Volunteer Program will be sponsoring two volunteer training sessions at the Northern Senior Activity Center.
These trainings are part of a local and national effort to organize volunteers and non profits in the county to be able to respond to disasters and to better prepare non profit organizations for dealing with spontaneous volunteers. The first training session will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 17 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and will focus on managing spontaneous volunteers in times of disaster using the volunteer reception center model.
The second training will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 24, between 9 a.m. and noon and will focus on volunteer leaders in times of disaster, and is geared towards volunteers in the community, as well as those wishing to learn more on how to identify potential volunteer leaders.
