CHARLES COUNTY, Md. – Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) is officially opening applications for the 2026–2027 Virtual Middle School Program. Designed for families with students entering Grades 6–8, this program offers engaging, standards-aligned instruction in a flexible virtual setting taught by CCPS teachers. The application deadline is 11:59 p.m., Friday, May 29.
Families are invited to attend a virtual informational session on Thursday, May 14 at 5:30 p.m. Click here to join the Zoom session. Future in-person registration dates will be shared with families at the end of the school year. Space is limited to the first 50 student who apply per grade level.

Program Overview
- Students must be enrolled as a CCPS student to attend the program.
- Core grade-level coursework in all subject areas.
- Curriculum follows the Middle School Program of Studies – Charles County Public Schools.
- Accelerated math options, determined using CCPS acceleration criteria, including Algebra I for eligible 8th-grade students.
- Electives, including Spanish I and Spanish II.
- Classes are taught Monday-Friday from 7:50 a.m. until 1:50 p.m.
- Students will take seven (7) classes a day with a break for lunch.
- Students who apply, are accepted, and who have an IEP, 504 or EL plans with CCPS will be conditionally accepted pending the outcome of a school-based meeting to determine eligibility.
- Student grade/course placements follow Superintendent Rule 5131.3.
Technology Requirement
Families must have reliable internet access at home for student participation. CCPS laptops will be issued to each student, and students must use the school-issued laptop to join classes and access the assigned work and virtual platforms.
