
Alan Harvey Manuel, 74, of Annapolis, Maryland, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024, at Autumn Lake at Spa Creek. His passing was due to natural causes after a long recovery from a stroke.
Born on March 23, 1949, in Silver Spring, Maryland, Alan was the son of the late Mr. Harry Manuel and Mrs. Evelyn Alls. He grew up in Southern Maryland and graduated from Great Mills High School.
Alan was a master craftsman in carpentry whose work brought beauty and functionality to countless projects. He shared his skills at the Calvert Marine Museum, where he also indulged his love of music by organizing numerous concerts for the community.
Alan is survived by his beloved wife, Shelly Macfadyen of Annapolis; his son, Keith Manuel of Annapolis; his stepson, Conner Macfadyen of Annapolis; his grandson, Lucas Manuel of Annapolis; his brother, Brice Manuel of North Carolina; his sisters, Sue Manuel and Carolyn Guy of St. Mary’s County; and his brother, Adam Alls of St. Mary’s County.
He was predeceased by his father, Harry Manuel (1960); his brother, Ian Manuel (2004); his sister, Sondra Manuel (2011); his mother, Evelyn Alls (2015); and his sister, Evelyn Aquino (2015).
Alan will be remembered for his craftsmanship, his passion for music, and the joy he brought to those around him. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Alan’s memory to the Calvert Marine Museum.
