Michael L. Thompson

Lusby, MD— On August 20, Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Dfc. Livingston was working part time security located at Buckets Bar and Grille on Rousby Hall Road in Lusby.

Livingston was approached by an employee of the bar who stated that, “a male walked to the front bar entrance carrying an open bottle of Captain Morgan’s liquor and placed the bottle on top of the trash can located next to the front door,” according to charging documents.ย

The male then entered the store and went into the rest room. The employee approached Livingston and stated she thought the male was under 21 years of age. The employee asked Livingston to check his identification and advise ย him that he couldn’t bring in outside liquor into the bar.

Livingston approached the male, later identified as Michael L. Thompson, 20, of Mechanicsville, and asked him for ย his identification (ID). Thompson stated he didn’t have an ID, Livingston then asked him if he brought a bottle of Captain Morgan to the front entrance and left it on the trash can.

Thompson stated no. Livingston then asked Thompson to exit the bar and walk outside with him.ย When they exited the bar area, Livingston advised Thompson,”that since he didn’t have an ID that he had to leave the property. Thompson stated ‘OK’ and asked to wait for his ride,” according to charging documents.ย

After the 10 minutes, Livingstonย went outside and approached Thompson who was sitting on a metal bench next to the entrance and asked when his ride would be arriving.

At that time Thompson looked up at the deputy and stated, “why the f*** are you standing over top of me,” charging documentsย stated.ย

There were approximately 20 people standing outside watching what was going on. After Livingstonย advisedย Thompson that he would be placed under arrest if he didn’t leave, Thompson stated “I don’t give a f*** about jail, do what the f*** you going to do.”

At that time Livingston lightly placed his hand on Thompson’s left arm in an attempt to escort him from the property and Thompson pulled away from him.ย

After the fourth attempt, Livingston grabbed Thompson by his left arm and he attempted to pull away from Livingston, at which time Livingston followed through and placed Thompson in a shoulder pin and fully mounted Thompson while on the metal bench.

Thompson attempted to fight back by pushing with his hands but was unable to do so from the deputy’s weight being placed on his upper chest.ย Thompsonย  was placed under arrestย  and placed with several other deputies who arrived on scene.

Thompson has been banned from the property and told to never return. Thompson was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting/interfering with an arrest, failure to obey and trespassing on private property.ย

Thompson has a hearing tentatively set for Oct. 5 in District Court. Thompson faces a maximum jail sentenceย of three years and seven months and/or a maximum fine of $6,500.ย
