08/22/17 – Update:ย  Scott Sanders, 27, of Annapolis was arrested on August 22 and charged in relation to the shooting he was injured in on August 5th.

Detectives investigating the shooting discovered that Sanders was in the 1100 block of Madison Street participating in a game of chance with a group of people outside in front of one of the buildings.ย  Sanders became involved in a verbal argument and was assaulted by two or more suspects.ย  Sanders left the area in a vehicle, visited another neighborhood in Annapolis, and then immediately returned to the 1100 block of Madison Street.ย  Sanders approached the group still in front of the building, produced a gun from his waistband and shot at the group.ย  Unknown members of the group returned fire at Sanders.ย  Sanders was struck by a bullet, returned to the vehicle, and was driven to Anne Arundel Medical Center where police were notified.

Sanders was charged with handgun on person, possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, use of a firearm in a violent crime, possession of a firearm after a CDS conviction, illegal possession of ammunition, reckless endangerment, and theft.ย  Sanders is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention without bond.

08/05/17 – Update: The victim has been identified as Scott Lewis Sanders, 27, of Annapolis. Sanders is listed in stable condition at University of Maryland Shock Trauma.

On August 5, 2017 at approx 05:30 am officers were dispatched to the Emergency Room at Anne Arundel Medical Center in reference to a shooting. The black male victim walked into the Emergency Room suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. The victim was flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma for treatment.ย  The victimโ€™s condition is unknown. Officers were able locate a crime scene in the 1100 block of Madison St.
