ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A Pasadena man was sentenced Wednesday to nine years in prison for a brutal assault that left a woman severely injured and trapped inside a home overnight, according to the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Robert Wallace Grim, 66, was sentenced in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court to 25 years, with all but nine years suspended, for first-degree assault. Judge Stacy McCormack imposed the sentence on Nov. 5, 2025, after Grim pleaded guilty on Aug. 28, 2025. Upon release, he must serve five years of supervised probation.
Prosecutors said the attack occurred on Feb. 3 at Grim’s home on Fox Court in Pasadena, where a verbal argument escalated into violence. The victim, 45, told police Grim strangled her, punched her and repeatedly struck her with a wooden bedpost, causing extensive bruising, cuts and blackened eyes.
Investigators said Grim took the victim’s phone and barricaded the door with a ladder to keep her from leaving. She escaped the next day and reported the assault.
“This was not only a terrible assault by the victim’s boyfriend, but what makes this particularly egregious is that he held the injured victim against her will for hours,” State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess said. “The defendant has shown no remorse or accountability for his actions. This top-of-the-guidelines sentence addresses the need for significant prison time for protection for the victim.”
The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Shane Nolan and investigated by the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
