At 10:30 p.m. Aug. 4, Trooper R. Wilt was on routine patrol on southbound Route 301, south of Route 6, when he observed a silver Ford weaving from lane 1 to the shoulder.

The trooper paced the vehicle which maintained a speed of 69 mph in a posted 55 mph zone, and initiated a traffic stop.

Upon making contact with the driver, Tpr. Wilt was struck by a strong odor of a chemical nature. The driver was suspended and had no identification and no vehicle registration for an out of state rental car.

A search incident to arrest revealed a loaded hand gun in the vehicle, when the passenger was asked to exit the car, he was observed dumping a glass vile with a clear liquid content.

The passenger was identified as Lamont S. Gilliam, 26 of White Plains. Gilliam stated the PCP was his.ย  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Charles County Detention Center for processing.ย  Gilliam was charged with did store and leave a loaded firearm, did unlawfully possess a controlled dangerous substance.
