The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating a deliberately set fire at vacant house on B Street in Chesapeake Beach, a report stated.

According to Dfm. Dexter Hodges, the incident occurred Friday, May 4 around 5:28 p.m. Sixteen firefighters from the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the blaze and brought the flames under control in 16 minutes. The structure had been previously demolished.

โ€œThe fire was determined to be intentionally set by some unidentified juvenile suspects after they reportedly ignited some wood and other combustible materials inside the basement of the demolished house,โ€ Hodges stated. โ€œNeighbors noticed smoke and called 911. There were no injuries as a result of the fire.โ€

Hodges stated the property was owned by a bank.
