Man charged after alleged assault in Lexington Park

UPDATE 

Matthew Thomas Simmons, 37, was arrested today, July 26 on several assault related charges involving a 12-year-old girl, according to the SMCSO. Simmons received two charges of child abuse and three charges of domestic assault after a disturbance on Weeping Willow Way, Lexington Park. Details of the victim’s status are not available at this time.  

One person has been arrested in connection to the assault, police say. Medical personnel remain on scene to aid the victim. 

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – On July 26, 2:41 p.m., crews responded to Weeping Willow Way and Midway Drive, Lexington Park for the report of an assault. Emergency personnel communications indicate that a 12-year-old girl was injured in the assault. Police are on the scene, this is a developing story.
