WALDORF, Md. — Two men are facing multiple felony charges after investigators say they carried out an armed robbery at a convenience store and later robbed two individuals at gunpoint before leading deputies to an apartment where evidence was recovered.

Elijah Dylan Miller, 21, of Waldorf, Maryland, and Demetrius Malik Clarke, 22, of Fort Washington, Maryland, were arrested following the April 21, 2026 incidents, according to court documents.

The investigation began around 2:52 a.m. when an employee at a 7-Eleven on St. Ignatius Drive reported an armed robbery. Surveillance footage showed a suspect exiting a black Chevrolet Cruze, entering the store, and pulling out a black semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine before demanding money from the cashier. The suspect fled with approximately $1,363.

Later that afternoon, around 1:45 p.m., deputies responded to a second robbery in the 3000 block of Gallery Place. According to investigators, two individuals were approached by a suspect who pointed a handgun equipped with a drum magazine and demanded property. The suspect stole cash, a wallet, a cellphone, and a vehicle key fob before fleeing the area in the same black Chevrolet Cruze.

The victims followed the suspect vehicle while contacting police, leading to a pursuit through the Smallwood Village area. The suspect vehicle eventually stopped near an apartment building on Gallery Place, where one individual ran inside while the driver continued briefly before returning to the area.

Responding deputies later located the vehicle and recovered items in plain view, including a drum magazine accessory and a crossbody bag. Additional evidence, including multiple cell phones, was collected from inside the car.

During the investigation, detectives executed a search warrant at an apartment connected to the suspects. Inside, they located a black semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine consistent with the weapon used in the robberies. The firearm was later determined to have been reported stolen out of Virginia. Investigators also recovered clothing matching that worn during the 7-Eleven robbery and more than $1,100 in cash.

Clarke faces charges including armed robbery, robbery, first- and second-degree assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime, and handgun violations. Miller is charged with armed robbery, robbery, first- and second-degree assault, and theft under $1,500.

Court records show Clarke is being held without bond following a bail review before Judge Karen Friedman, while Miller was released on his own recognizance after an initial appearance before the same judge.

Under Maryland law, armed robbery carries a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in prison, while use of a firearm in a violent crime carries up to 20 years. First-degree assault is punishable by up to 25 years, and robbery carries up to 15 years.

A hearing is set for May 19, 2026 in Charles District Court.
