
LA PLATA, Md. — A 30-year-old man was seriously injured Saturday morning when he was thrown from an all-terrain vehicle in Charles County.
The crash was reported at 10:48 a.m. on Dec. 6 in the 6700 block of Pomfret Road. Callers reported the man had been thrown from the ATV and was found unconscious but breathing, with significant bleeding from his eye, nose and face. EMS later noted he was also bleeding from his ears.
Due to the severity of the injuries, crews initially prelaunched a medical helicopter. Supervisors later advised that all helicopters were grounded because of weather, requiring the patient to be transported by ground.
EMS transported the man to UM Capital Region Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
