Waldorf, MD – Spring Dell Center has been supporting adults with developmental disabilities for over 45 years, twenty-two of those years have included a successful auction and dinner that has provided resources for various programs provided by the agency.  Again this year, the organization will hold a live and silent auction/dinner scheduled for November 20, 2015 at the Jaycees Center, 3090 Crain Highway, Waldorf, MD.  The event will have over 200 items, generating funds to support programs for individuals with disabilities that are not funded by the state.  This year’s auction theme is “Winter Wonderland” and the list of fabulous items continues to grow daily.  To date, items include Hopper Passes to Disney’s Theme Parks, a three night stay at The Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, V.I.P. Passes to Maryland International Raceway, golf packages, antiques, event tickets, sports memorabilia, additional trips and much more. Advance tickets are $40 and $50 at the door.  Doors to the event will open at 5 p.m.

Past projects supported by the auction include; fitness training provided by local gyms, adaptive equipment expanding the Movement and Wellness program, as well as handicapped accessible vehicles used at the agency’s residential homes.   Proceeds from the event have also helped provide life changing experiences for individuals utilizing programs such as Lacy Bullard, who was diagnosed with Spina Bifida and a learning disorder.  Bullard has relied on her family, as well as additional assistance, to complete everyday tasks her whole life. In April, that all changed when she moved out of her family home and into her own apartment, which is modified to promote her independence.  Also, there is Toby Allen; who despite a developmental disability, recently started his first job and received his paycheck with the help of a Supported Employment Job Coach.  These are just two of many success stories.

There is still plenty of time for you to get involved.  By becoming a partnering business, you will change lives of individual’s right here in your community and will have your business/organization recognized by over 400 guests who attend the event.  All donations must be in by Monday, November 2nd.  To join the event with a donation and/or sponsorship, or to gain additional information regarding the event, call 301-934-4561.  Information may also be obtained by visiting springdellcenter.org.
