EDGEWATER, Md.Nico’s Bagels & Brunch is about to open its second location in Edgewater. With it, the store brings its legacy of commitment to mental health and community-building.

Nico’s is opening this week in Edgewater and is inviting the community to its grand opening on Thursday, July 9, at 10 a.m. The store serves its signature New York-style bagels, creative “bagelwiches” and a viral “Crabby Bagel” on weekends.

The first 44 people in line at the grand opening will receive a free breakfast sandwich, and the store’s Crabby Bagel (normally only served on weekends) will also be available throughout the entire month of July. Guests who also download the Nico’s Bagels app will receive $5 off their first mobile order. Additionally, Nico’s will present a check for $30,500 to the Nico’s Hope for Life Foundation, representing proceeds from every HOPE Bagel sold since the first Nico’s location opened in Crofton in 2025.

The store, located at 100 Central Ave., Edgewater, is eager to celebrate its grand opening with the community. After this Thursday, Nico’s will be open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. with its usual menu plus the Crabby Bagel.

Founded by Jerry Osuna and Dan and Joy Shields, Nico’s opened in Crofton in 2025 and swore to create a welcoming space for guests while promoting positivity and mental health awareness. Nico’s Hope for Life Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to fostering hope and preserving lives through proactive suicide prevention. By providing critical education and resources to youth, educators and families, the foundation empowers individuals to identify the early warning signs of distress.

Like its first location in Crofton, Nico’s aims to be more than another neighborhood cafe. This purpose-driven brand is “built on the belief that small moments can spark meaningful change” and a mission to spread positivity and prioritize mental health.
