Baltimore Man Charged With Cocaine Possession After Traffic Stop In Lexington Park

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A Baltimore man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop in St. Mary’s County led to the discovery of suspected cocaine and paraphernalia, according to court records.

Raul Luis Malpica-Adorno, 38, of Baltimore, was arrested April 22, 2026, following a traffic stop on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park.

According to the statement of probable cause, a deputy observed a vehicle displaying expired registration and lacking a front license plate before initiating a traffic stop.

During the stop, authorities reported observing copper Brillo on the passenger-side floorboard, which is commonly used in devices for ingesting crack cocaine.

Investigators said a glass smoking device containing burnt residue consistent with crack cocaine was located near the driver’s seat, along with additional suspected cocaine found inside the vehicle.

Further search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a folded paper containing a rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine in the rear seating area.

Authorities said the substances were found in areas directly associated with where Malpica-Adorno was seated, indicating possession.

Malpica-Adorno is charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was released on a $2,000 unsecured personal bond following his arrest.

Under Maryland law, possession of cocaine carries a maximum penalty of up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $5,000. Possession of drug paraphernalia carries a potential penalty of up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $500.

A hearing is set for June 1, 2026, in St. Mary’s District Court.
