PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A Saint Leonard man is facing misdemeanor charges after deputies say he refused repeated orders to leave a Prince Frederick bar and caused a disturbance in front of patrons on Thanksgiving Eve.

Devean Michael Gemoya, 22, is charged in Calvert District Court with disorderly conduct, failure to obey a reasonable and lawful order and intoxicated public disturbance following a Nov. 26, 2025, incident at O’Gannigans, located at 98 S. Solomons Island Road, according to charging documents.

Deputy First Class C. Idol was dispatched to the bar for a report of a disorderly subject and a possible fight. When he arrived with other units, employees and patrons pointed out a man they said had been causing problems inside the establishment and wanted removed from the property. Idol noted that he recognized the individual, identified by his Maryland driver’s license as Gemoya, from prior encounters in which Gemoya had been intoxicated and verbally inappropriate.

Staff and patrons told deputies Gemoya had been the primary aggressor, verbally confronting customers and escalating tensions before he was escorted outside. Gemoya told the deputy that an unknown woman had struck him in the chest inside the bar but that he was not injured and declined medical treatment.

Gemoya’s wife contacted Gemoya’s brother to come pick him up and that the brother agreed to arrive in about 15 minutes. While they waited, Gemoya was “verbally disrespectful” toward officers and repeatedly walked up to them despite being instructed multiple times to lower his voice and keep his distance, drawing attention from people leaving the bar, the document states. At that point, deputies had not placed him under arrest.

When Gemoya’s brother arrived, deputies told Gemoya to leave the property with him, but Gemoya refused and resisted his brother’s attempts to guide him away. Gemoya made comments apparently aimed at provoking a trooper and again refused to leave after being warned he could be arrested, saying, “I’m not leaving”, according to the statement.

Gemoya continued to ignore lawful commands, planted his feet and spoke loudly in the parking area, leading Idol to conclude that he would keep disturbing the peace if not removed. Gemoya was then taken into custody and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center, where he was charged.

Gemoya was released on his own recognizance on Nov. 27. A trial is scheduled for Dec. 29, 2025, in Calvert District Court in Prince Frederick.
