His Passion And Work Outside Lines Being Paired With Player Of The Month Award For July
Former St. Louis Cardinal and current Southern Maryland Blue Crab Brian Barton is a man who walks the walk and talks the talk, literally.ย
It was announced that Barton has received the Atlantic League Player of the Month Award for the month of July.ย Simultaneously, it was announced that he will be releasing his book โMindsetโ on August 19th prior to the Blue Crabsโ game against the Sugar Land Skeeters at Regency Furniture Stadium.ย
The message of Bartonโs book is clear:ย empowering people to change the world.ย โMindset is a book intended to positively impact the lives of people, young and old, by enhancing awareness of the effects of societal issues.ย The objective is to provoke critical thought and self-recognition of the influencing factors to the mindset, suggesting a course of action to overcome and strengthen mental weaknesses while enhancing mental strengthsโ states Barton.ย
After starring at the University of Miami and majoring in Aerospace Engineering, Barton signed a contract with the Cleveland Indians.ย After three years, he made the opening day roster for the St. Louis Cardinals and made his debut on April 1, 2008.ย
It was during his time in St. Louis and working with troubled youth that Barton received his inspiration to begin writing โMindsetโ as well as start his foundation, โXY to the Power of Infinity.โย โXYโs mission is to build community and global leaders by empowering and stimulating youth through the introduction of travel, business ownership and public speakingโ adds Barton.ย
With the Blue Crabs, Barton also serves as a leader on the field, validated with his awarding of Atlantic League Player of the Month.ย Barton was untouchable in the month of July as he batted a whopping .396 in 25 games with 2 homers and 13 RBI.ย He garnered at least one hit in 23 of 25 games played, and had 43 hits in 97 at-bats, ending the month on a six-game hitting streak and batted .586 (13-22) over that span.ย
The award comes as no surprise as Barton has been dazzling all season.ย Through August 5th, the California native is hitting .316 with five homers and 37 RBI on the season.
