UPDATE – The 2025 Bay Bridge Run, scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 9, has been canceled due to a high chance of inclement weather and will not be rescheduled, organizers announced Saturday night.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Thousands of runners are set to cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge on Sunday, Nov. 9, for the 2025 Bay Bridge Run, an annual 10K that will bring morning travel delays along U.S. 50/301 while showcasing one of Maryland’s most vital structures.

State transportation officials advise motorists to plan for lane closures and intermittent slowdowns as one bridge span is dedicated to the footrace under controlled conditions. Drivers should allow extra time, heed posted detours, and monitor traffic alerts before heading toward the bridge.

The Bay Bridge is part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Transportation Lifeline, linking Maryland communities across the Chesapeake and supporting commerce, tourism and daily life for millions. The original span stretches 4.3 miles and was once the world’s longest continuous over-water steel structure.

Race coverage begins at 6:45 a.m. on the CSE Network with hosts Booker Corrigan and Dave Berdan broadcasting from the Constellation Home Celebration Village. A livestream is available at corrigansportsnetwork.com.

Social media comments ahead of the event reflected both nostalgia and practical questions from readers. Some called for the return of the bygone “bridge walk,” while others asked about start and end times, race direction and weather plans. Organizers recommend checking official channels the morning of the event for schedule and weather updates.

The course includes the 4.3-mile crossing and continues to the finish festival. Spectators are encouraged to cheer from designated areas off the bridge and to respect all posted restrictions.

Travelers not attending the event are urged to avoid the area during peak race hours on Sunday morning and to consider alternate routes on either side of the bay.
