LEONARDTOWN, Md. — We are receiving reports of a motor vehicle accident this morning that involved a bicyclist.

At approximately 8:26 a.m. on October 16, first responders were called to the scene in the 23000 block of Point Lookout Road for the reported accident.

Upon arrival, crews discovered the bike operator who had been struck who had sustained serious injuries. Soon after, EMS on the scene made the determination that the victim needed to be flown to a nearby trauma center for further treatment.

Trooper 7 helicopter from Maryland State Police Aviation was contacted to make the fly-out. Approximately 8:56 a.m., the helicopter landed inside the neighborhood of Woodmont Drive, at its intersection of Laurel Court.

The driver is believed to be in critical condition following the accident.
