Black Bear Tranquilized And Removed From Tree In Prince George’s County

LANGLEY PARK, Md. – A black bear that made its way into a residential neighborhood Monday, May 26, 2025, was safely tranquilized and removed after spending hours perched in a tree in the 8300 block of Tahona Drive.

The Prince George’s County Police Department issued an advisory around 12:30 p.m., alerting residents of the bear’s presence and urging them to keep pets and food indoors while avoiding contact with the animal.

Paramedic Engine 844 from Chillum assisted the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and county police in the effort. The bear was successfully tranquilized and safely removed from the tree by late afternoon.

Officials confirmed it will be transported to the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center.

No injuries were reported.
