C.J. Ziegler delivered a go-ahead, RBI double in a two-run top of the 9th to give the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs a 4-2 victory over the Somerset Patriots.
In the 9th, Bobby Stevens led off with a walk and stole second base with one out. Ziegler then doubled him in to restore the lead for the Blue Crabs. Two batters later Angel Chavez added an RBI single to double the lead to 4-2.
Jake Hale (6-3) earned the win out of the bullpen throwing two scoreless innings. Mike DeMark (6-2) allowed both runs in the 9th and suffered the loss. Justin Berg pitched a scoreless 9th for his first save of the season.
Luke Murton hit a solo home run in the top of the 2nd for the game’s first run. The home run for Murton was his ninth of the season.
Somerset took the lead in the 4th inning on back-to-back RBI singles from Ty Wright and Cory Harrichak. Southern Maryland immediately responded in the 5th to tie the game thanks to an RBI double by Allan de san Miguel.
