Bobby Stevens delivered a go-ahead RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs snapped the Lancaster Barnstormers ten-game winning streak with a 5-4 victory.

The Blue Crabs winning run was unearned in the eighth.

Angel Chavez drew a one-out walk and moved to second after James Skelton reached on an error. Stevens then came up in the clutch with the game-winning single to end the Blue Crabs losing streak.

Both teams were on the offensive early in the game. Lancaster got a run in the top of the first when Blake Gailen scored on Andrew Clark’s groundout.

Southern Maryland tied things up in the home half on a Cyle Hankerd sacrifice fly.

Keith Castillo gave the Barnstormers a brief lead in the top of the second with an RBI single, but Southern Maryland rallied back with three in the bottom of the second.

Angel Chavez hit a two-run home run for the lead and Bobby Stevens added an RBI double to make it 4-2.

The Barnstormers knotted the game with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth. Castillo brought in his second RBI of the night with an RBI single and Olmo Rosario’s run-scoring single tied the game at 4-4.

The Blue Crabs take to the road to play the Camden Riversharks for three games starting tomorrow night at 7 p.m. Southern Maryland returns home for three games against the Bridgeport Bluefish beginning Friday Sept. 5 at 7:05 p.m.
